About the lecture

( With live musical examples )

Indian Music has had an interesting and eventful history of its own. Having its origin in the primitive society, it has undergone various changes starting from the Vedic era to the 21st century. Over this long span of centuries, the art, along with the country, has witnessed major historical events. Along with the evolution of eras, Indian music has always marched to harmonize with the tastes and temperaments of a growing, changing society.

This lecture–demonstration traces that journey, exploring how ragas have adapted to changing contexts, spaces, and audiences.

Structured as an interactive lecture–demonstration, it integrates storytelling, historical analysis, and live musical examples to enable audiences to perceptually engage with these transformations.
